The Full Story


Its time to get personal! Im realising more and more that no matter how big or small a business is, people want the genuine story about the person or people behind it. And fair enough, in a day and age where we where our heart on our social media pages we should be grateful to have the ability to connect with our kindred spirits so easily.

Personally I dont share much on social media and I try to keep the Botanical Insta page pretty! But without further a due here is a little about myself. 

My name is Amy, Im 37, I have 2 kids (Ruby 5 and Hugo 2) and a husband of 15 years. I know right, its gone fast.

Both my kids are at home with me every day of the week. Ruby is home schooled (by me) and she has a fab group of kids from like minded families which she sees most weeks. Our kids are very much part of what we do. They see us work, plan and interact daily with our customers. We have a great work life balance (except the month before Christmas, its crazy, lots of late nights). 

I grew up in rural Tasman on a small farm with my 2 sisters and 1 brother where we had horses, pet lambs and lots of freedom. I've ridden horses since I was 6, sadly I don't own any currently due to the time pressures of kids and work but I will get back

there very soon.

The business in its early days started with just a dream, a plan and four soaps that I had learnt to make from my home kitchen. I got to work, went to markets and approached some stores. I realised pretty quickly that I needed a few more products, so a long came the hand creams, then skincare and then the bath bombs. 

The bath bombs were great at the markets, but no so great to wholesale. I needed a packaging solution that was inexpensive, eco friendly and it had to give the product longevity on the shelf.  So the triangle was created and using a roll of kraft card and my sewing machine I got as a 21st present, I started to experiment. It worked. It looked great, it was unique and was received very well on market debut. The rest is history. I now employ a lovely lady to help me keep up with demand and I;m forever grateful to my wonderful and loyal stockists throughout the country for the support.

All of our products are created in small batches to ensure quality and freshness and we don't test on animals.

Our ambition is to create natural skincare that our customers enjoy to use every day.
